Working at a digital marketing consultancy firm has made me face various problems from various clients and deal with very specific issues. It is inevitable that over years, a Tag Manager container gets flooded with so many tags that not all of them are working, not all of them are relevant, and probably not all of them are worthy any more.If your Google Tag Manager's container is flooded with many tags, I will:
- Separate working and not working tags
- Fix not working tags
- Keep necessary and worthy tags and remove not working or not worthy ones (of course after your confirmation)
- Write JavaScript functions to merge similar tags
